TEACHING

Public Relations

I am  an Assistant Professor  of Mass Communications with a specialty focus in public relations at Virginia Union University. I teach PR courses such as Social Media, Media & Crisis Communications, Public Relations Research, Public Relations Writing and Production, Public Relations Campaigns, Event Planning and more.

My PR courses are designed to prepare students for the work world with real, hands-on experiences. Students work with clients within the Richmond, VA community and develop professional campaigns that are used during their professional journey.

In addition to teaching, I also advise the department's Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) chapter and oversee the department's public relations agency titled, "Panther Communications."

Moreover, I work each and everyday to enhance my students' education, broaden their professional network and help launch their careers after graduation.

Research Areas: Social Media, Public Relations, Media, Research, Brand Strategy, Education

The program provides students with the knowledge and strategic skills essential to be competitive within the marketplace.  The program includes comprehensive courses of study including theory, practice in print, TV, radio  and public relations.

The department houses a state-of-the art television studio, radio station  and digital editing lab. The department’s teaching goals are aimed at  building professional communicators  who are grounded in the liberal arts  and who possess strong reading, writing and critical thinking skills.
